Train operators on the Fenchurch Street line have submitted their bid today for the next franchise period—on the day the company set another UK record for punctuality.
C2c trains managed almost 99 per cent running on time in the four weeks ending September 15, which included the two-week Paralympic Games held in east London.
The company has managed an average 97.2 per cent punctuality over the past 12 months—a new UK record and the 10th successive time it has finished top of the annual rail industry table.
National Express today (Thurs) submitted its bid to the Department for Transport for the new Essex Thameside franchise. The 15-year franchise is due to start next May.
Managing director Andrew Chivers said: “The bid for the new franchise we’ve submitted builds on c2c’s current performance to both farepayers and taxpayers.”
Latest punctuality figures are from the Public Performance Measure, the official rail industry table for train operators, released today by Network Rail.
