Film buff artist with Asberger’s Syndrome stages show at Stepney’s Genesis cinema

An artist with Asperger’s Syndrome who is inspired by the movie world is staging his own public exhibition at east London’s Genesis cinema.

Patrick Samuel’s work, called Clash of the Icons, is on show at the Stepney Green picture house venue in Mile End Road until January 16.
He has embraced his “neuro-diversity” as a gift rather than seeing it as a disability and says he has found his voice through his painting.
Patrick returned to art after a 20-year break, picking up painting and drawing again when he started his daily art therapy just over a year ago.
His paintings and drawings merge heroes and villains in unexpected ways that reflect his favourites—although “not too seriously”, he admits.
