A LEGAL scholar from Queen Mary is acting as a special adviser to a House of Lords investigation into financial regulation in the European Union.
Rosa Lastra, Professor in International Financial and Monetary Law, is advising the EU committee of the House of Lords in its inquiry into what the EU has done in response to the global financial crisis, how it can protect the economies of member states and ways to prevent a banking meltdown happening in future.
Professor Lastra said: "I am delighted and honoured to be able to contribute to the debate in this country, offering my knowledge and expertise on EU and International financial regulatory matters to the House of Lords."
She added: "I am also learning a lot from working with such a distinguished group of peers and listening to some of the top people in my field who come and give evidence to the committee.
