Tenants in Stepney escaped a fire in their flat unharmed last night.

Two fire engines, one from Shadwell and the other from Whitechapel, were called to the two-storey terraced house on Senrab Street at 18.51. The fire was on the first floor and around ten per cent of the room was damaged.

The fire had been put out by 19.30 and nobody was hurt.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
