A FIREWORK caused a blaze which damaged a garage repair workshop in the arches under the main-line Liverpool Street railway in East London in the early hours of this-morning (Tuesday).
Night-time mechanics in the workshop were unable to put the flames out with their extinguishers before emergency fire crews arrived at 12.15am.
They had to evacuate the premises in the railway arches in Birkbeck Street, off Cambridge Heath Road, Bethnal Green. Train services to Chingford and Enfield were unaffected. No-one hurt.
Fire investigators were later examining the damage, but it's not thought to have been suspicious.
