THE first-ever Open Jewish Culture festival is being launched today (Monday) at one of the oldest synagogues in London's East End.
Details are being unveiled at 4.15pm at Sandy's Row, a mid-Victorian Ashkenazi synagogue opened in 1854 at what is now a listed building off the East End's famous Petticoat Lane.
The Open Jewish Culture festival is to highlight what organisers describe as the best of London's Jewish culture in top venues over the next month.
It is aimed at 'reaching out' to existing and new audiences with a diverse programme of Jewish arts, culture and heritage, looking back at age old traditions while at the same time exploring contemporary themes.
The London Jewish Forum and the GLA have come together with many of London's Jewish culture producers to launch the project. They are joined at today's unveiling by some of the 15 'cultural providers' who include the Jewish Museum and London Jewish Cultural centre.
