The first solar-powered vessel to travel round the world sailed into the Docklands for its first ever visit to the UK.
The Planet Solar, a Switzerland-based project, is 100 per cent solar powered and has just returned from an Atlantic Crossing.
The team from the waterway charity, the Canal & River Trust, had the task of ‘locking through’ the impressive vessel at West India Dock Pierhead, Manchester Road, last Saturday.
It was later moored at South Quay, in the shadow of Canary Wharf, before it set off for Paris on Tuesday.
