Shops and houses were evacuated in Bow on Friday due to flooding.
A burst water main at the junction between Bow Road and Fairfield Road caused around 10 houses and 10 shops to be evacuated.
The flood water got to a depth of roughly half a metre and fire crews had to pump the water away from the affected areas while roads were closed.
There were 10 fire engines and 72 firefighters fighting the rising flood water.
A London Fire Brigade spokesman said: “The Brigade was called at 9:41pm and the incident was over for firefighters at 4:59am.
“Fire crews from Bethnal Green, Millwall, Walthamstow, Tottenham, Homerton and surrounding fire stations attended the scene.”
