WILD food fanatics foraged around the forest for fungi when a mushroom expert led a wild food walk around Tower Hamlets Cemetery park on Saturday.
Participants learnt the difference between shaggy inkcaps and puffballs and which mushrooms are safe to eat on the Fungus Foray guided walk led by Keir Mottram.
The walk was the latest in a series of regular seasonal walks promoting wild food around the woodland off Southern Grove, Mile End.
Wild food enthusiasts, including celebrity chefs, have come under fire recently after the City of London Corporation pledged to prosecute food foragers picking mushrooms on its land at Epping Forest as it says it upsets the delicate ecosystem.
