Forgotten crafts came back to life at a spring woodland festival held in the biggest nature reserve in London’s East End.
Expert carver Ben Willis (pictured) was demonstrating the art of an old wood shaving craft at Saturday’s Woodland Spring Festival held at Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park in Mile End.
The country crafts also included pole lathe turning, green wood work, shelter building and willow weaving.
The festival staged by Friends of Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park had an ‘All Things 60’ theme to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the Queen’s 1953 Coronation, when people were invited to turn up in king, queen, prince or princess fancy dress.
It also had ‘bring and fix’ and community stalls, rickshaw tours and children’s games.
