Tower Hamlets Council are urging people to share their memories of the former Royal London Hospital.
The Grade II listed Whitechapel building, which will be the home of the new town hall, was opened to patients in 1757.
It’s been empty since 2012, and the council are spending £105 million to turn it into their new headquarters.
To celebrate, former staff, patients and visitors are being urged to dig out photos and share memories of the old hospital.
These will be put with archived images and historical facts to display on the council’s website.
Mayor John Biggs said: “We’re truly excited to be bringing the former hospital building back to life.
“It means a lot to me personally, not only because it’s an important part of our community, but also because it’s a hospital with personal memories going back several decades, touching the lives of many I have known.”
The building is due to open in 2022.
