The boys came out on top at Bethnal Green Academy where today for the first time it was four boys who achieved the school’s highest GCSE grades.
Across all subjects including English and Math, 73 per cent of the boys scored at least five A* to C grades, while the overall figure, with the girls included, was 70 per cent.
Excluding English and Math 90 per cent of students at the school in Gosset Street gained the same marks. And 98 per cent of students received at least five A* to G grades.
Just over 15 per cent of all the grades awarded were A* to A grades.
Principal Mark Keary said: “These results represent some of our best ever student performances. Our year 11 students worked incredibly hard to achieve these results and I’m immensely proud of their efforts.
“I also commend our staff who helped make our school one of the most improved in the country.”
The school’s top four achievers were Jahedul Hoque with seven A*s and two As, Malachy Hall-Thorpe with five A*s and six As, Muzakkir Hyder with five A*s and three As and Rayhan Ahmed with two A*s and seven As.
