Four people were injured in a head-on car smash in East London last night (Monday) which closed Poplar High Street.
They had to be rescued by ambulance paramedics and helped out of the vehicles, including both drivers, following the collision near London’s Canary Wharf.
The woman driver of the maroon Fiesta involved had neck injuries. A second woman who was a passenger in her car had to be brought out on a stretcher.
The man driving the other vehicle, a gold-coloured Honda, was treated at the scene by paramedics, along with his passenger.
The injured were taken to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, but were not thought to be seriously hurt.
Police had to close off Poplar High Street for an hour while the rescue got under way and to allow fire crews to clear the road.
