Former O’s manager Clark enjoys E10 return to promote new book

The ex-Leyton Orient boss has released an autobiography titled ‘Black & White And Red All Over’ and signed copies ahead of Tuesday’s game with Aldershot Town
Former Leyton Orient manager and chief executive Frank Clark was back at the O’s on Tuesday and thoroughly enjoyed his return, although was surprised by the state of the pitch!
During his several seasons as a manager in E10, the surface at Brisbane Road was not in the best of conditions.
Nevertheless, Clark got on with things, but was pleasantly surprised to see how much grass was on the pitch when he witnessed the O’s goalless draw at home to Aldershot Town in the National League on Tuesday.
The 75-year-old, who signed copies of his autobiography titled ‘Black & White And Red All Over’ before kick-off, said: “It was great to be back.
“I managed to meet a few of the old lads in the club shop or should I say superstore! The ground looked so well and that was lovely to see.

“The pitch was magnificent – I can’t remember it ever looking as green as that before, so obviously the club have done a fine job in terms of developing the stadium.”
Clark’s association with Orient began in October 1981 when he was assistant manager to Ken Knighton before he replaced the former Sunderland boss.

He eventually left the O’s in 1993 to take over from Brian Clough at Nottingham Forest and his new book charts the highs and lows of his 12-year stay in east London where he was a number two, the manager and then chief executive in E10.
Clark said: “It is a proper autobiography and it was just something I wanted to do before I got too old and couldn’t remember any of it!
“I hope people will enjoy it. It seems to be going quite well at the minute.
“There is a fair bit in the book about my time here and obviously I was at Orient for a long time. It was difficult most of the time, but very enjoyable nevertheless.”
*Leyton Orient have confirmed young midfielder Hector Kyprianou has agreed a first professional contract with the club.
The talented teenager is highly regarded by everyone at the O’s and has signed a deal until the summer of 2021.
