Versatile midfielder is back at club after being released under previous regime

Leyton Orient have announced academy graduate Freddy Moncur has signed a new one-year deal with the club.

The versatile midfielder was released at the end of last season, bringing his stay in Brisbane Road to an end.

But Steve Davis and Martin Ling have offered the 20-year-old a new professional contract, which he has accepted.

Moncur made his O’s debut in September 2015 during a Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie away to Luton Town.

Moncur impressed for the Blues and a solid pre-season under Andy Hessenthaler suggested he may get more chances at Brisbane Road.

Numerous manager changes halted his first-team progress and he was loaned out to National League South side Bishop’s Stortford in October 2016.

After spending a couple of months with the Hertfordshire club, Moncur was recalled and made his Football League debut in February.

The midfielder caught the eye under Danny Webb and gained further opportunities while Omer Riza was in charge.

And with the future of the E10 outfit now in good hands, Moncur has been handed another chance to impress at Orient.

Often described as one of the best trainers and hardest working players at the club, the former West Ham United youngster will no doubt relish his second opportunity at O’s.
