Friends of teenager Arran Draper have raised the money this week to pay his funeral costs after he was who was killed in an evening rush-hour accident in east London involving a lorry.

The 18-year-old trainee accountant was returning home from work when the incident happened on the main A2010 Leamouth Road in Poplar on May 31. He died at the scene from head injuries.

Arran had left school last year, halfway through his A-levels, to start work. Former schoolfriends from St Bonaventure’s Secondary in Forest Gate described the fun-loving youth as “living life to the full” and said his ambition was to become a journalist.

Now those friends are helping Arran’s family in Plaistow to pay for his funeral with £2,000 they have raised on a Just Giving website page set up in his memory.

The lorry driver stopped at the scene. Accident investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the tragedy at 4.15pm on May 31 to contact police on 101.
