Bethnal Green's Little Oaks centre ran an open day for the under-fives and their parents to show what Tower Hamlets council offers in pre-school child care.
Parents joined in workshops about health and strengthening families, while the tots themselves got down to the more serious business of having a fun day.
Children's centres have been developed in the East End to help learning and child-development before school age. There are now 21 centres giving kids a flying start to their lives in one of Britain's most deprived boroughs.
