A MUM-of-four is getting on her bike this weekend in her fight against swine flu.
With predictions that a swine flu pandemic could be on its way this autumn, Claire Davis is doing all she can to ensure mums know how to protect their babies.
And with warnings that breastfeeding is a good way to prevent infection, the 39-year-old who lives in Bow is raising funds for the charity Breastfeeding Network by cycling 300km from London to Amsterdam.
Claire who works as a Breastfeeding Advisor for Tower Hamlets NHS and offers new mums support and information will be leaving with her friend Jo Naylor tomorrow for the three-day challenge.
She said: "We were going to raise as much as possible for the Breastfeeding Network but now there's another more urgent reason, to encourage as many mums as possible to breastfeed as we all seek to safeguard infants this autumn against swine flu."
Health experts say babies who are breastfeed are able to fight infection better than newborns who are formula-fed, as mums' antibodies pass through their breastmilk to help the baby fight infections.
