AN investigation is to be carried out by the London Assembly into the role of the organisation responsible for the long-term future of the Olympic Park and venues.

Earlier this year the Olympic Park Legacy Company was set up to take over the responsibility of the park and venues from the London Development Agency.

The Assembly's Economic Development, Culture, Sport and Tourism Committee will set out to gain a clearer understanding of how, when and by whom decisions will be made, and who stands to gain from the sale of the land after the Games.

Committee chair Dee Doocey said: "There are still so many questions about the legacy of the venues and the park. What will the Olympic Stadium be used for once the Games are over? Will the Olympics media centre attract the anticipated 7,000 jobs for East London?

"The Millennium Dome struggled for years to find a long-term use - we need to ensure the same mistakes are not repeated.
