GEORGE Galloway has voiced fears that the British National Party is trying to exploit the ill feeling of refinery employees angry about jobs going to foreign workers.

The Bethnal Green and Bow MP for Respect said he supported the demands being raised by union leaders but feared the BNP was trying to radicalise workers whose jobs were in jeopardy.

He said: "The strikes that have spread across the refinery industry and beyond are not against Italians or other foreign workers as such.

"Many of those on strike have said they work happily alongside workers from many different countries.

"The BNP have been trying to exploit the anger of many workers but fortunately most strikers reject their very nasty, racist politics."

He called for more British workers to be employed on the Olympic site which he said was one area of employment growth despite the economic downturn.
