KIDS got into a sporting spirit despite not getting to meet the England football star they had been promised at a free event in London's East End.
Tottenham Hotspur player Jermaine Jenas was expected to help encourage children aged six to 16 to try out different sports on Wennington Green at Mile End Park on Sunday.
But the midfielder got a call from England manger Fabio Capello asking him to be on standby for England's World Cup qualifier game at Wembley Stadium next Monday.
But it didn't stop the kids from having a go at activities such as skateboarding, boxing, running and high jumps.
The event was organised by Access Sport, an organisation working to increase the uptake of sports among youngsters.
The sports 'jam' was part of the council's 'fitness' programme encouraging youngsters to get involved in sport.
