A community garden in Whitechapel has grabbed the attention of Gardener’s World presenter Mark Lane.
A community garden in Whitechapel has grabbed the attention of Gardener’s World presenter Mark Lane.
The new garden and plant nursery was set up by Core Landscapes, a project working to improve mental health and wellbeing through horticulture.
Mark trained as a garden designer and established his own business after a car crash saw him become a fulltime wheelchair user.
He said: “I am living proof of how gardening, the great outdoors, wildlife and being alone or with others can dramatically change your life.
“There is much more we can all do to improve our cities, reduce pollutants through the use of green spaces and, importantly, create a community, a hub where anyone can come along, get their hands in the soil, make new friends and be part of a truly positive and remarkable cause.”
The Stepney Way site is open Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10am - 4pm.
