GREEN fingered gardeners got together to bring a spot of colour to an East London estate.

Residents and friends who live near the Cranbrook estate off Roman Road planted 200 tulip bulbs which had been donated to community as part of the national Big Bulb Plant.

They donated a further 50 bulbs to the nearby Tate House nursery.

Organiser Dillon Toyne said: "We are looking forward to seeing the difference in the seeing when the tulips come up and seeing what it looks like in the spring."

Tower Hamlets Homes provided bulb dibbers to make tulip seized holes in the grass and also brought along bulb fibre.

Residents have already got a community garden off the ground this year and have been tucking into the fruits of their first season's labour on the veg plot.
