OUTSPOKEN MP George Galloway has slammed the Charity Commission’s investigation into his Gaza appeal as a political attack.’

The Commission’s announcement on Monday of an investigation came just four days after Galloway was told he was barred from entering Canada—on grounds of national security.’ He was due to speak at an anti-war forum in Toronto this coming Monday.

The Viva Palestina’ campaign backed by the East London MP for Bow & Bethnal Green funded the 1 million convoy of 100 vehicles to take aid to Gaza.

The Commission is examining how Viva Palestina’ was spending its cash after it said attempts to get the information had failed.

BAN AND PROBE LINKED’

The MP insists the two incidents of the Canadian ban and the UK charity investigation are linked.

“Let the facts speak for themselves,” he insists.

“On Friday, there are reports that Canada is seeking to ban me from the country.

“On Monday morning, I set off to the US for a sell out’ speaking tour—and while I’m in the air the Charity Commission decides not to wait for a letter it had asked for and, instead, launches a public attack on the Gaza aid convoy I led.”

Lawyers were due on Tuesday to lodge an injunction with the Canadian High Court in Ottawa for Galloway to get the ban lifted.
