GCSE Results Day 2018: St Paul’s Way headteacher celebrates ‘exceptional’ grades

The headteacher of a Bow Common school has called his students’ results in their GCSE exams an “exceptional achievement”.
Phil Akerman, in charge of St Paul’s Way Trust School in St Paul’s Way, said his Year 11’s results were “the best in our school’s history”.
He did not provide information on what proportion of pupils achieved top grades, stating only that GCSE results were “significantly above the national average”.
This summer’s GCSE and A-level results, Mr Akerman added, show “remarkable things really do happen when you combine your students’ potential, their hard work and their determination with great support from their families and a talented and committed teaching/tutor team.”
High-performing pupils included Labib Khan, who achieved seven grade 9s — the highest mark in the new numerical mark scheme — one A* and an A** in further maths.
