George Elokobi is hoping Leyton Orient can reward the hard work of boss Justin Edinburgh over the next few months by claiming a number of good results.

The O’s travel to Dover Athletic in the third round of the FA Trophy on Saturday looking to qualify for the last-eight of the competition.

Elokobi has only recently come back following a lengthy lay-off with a serious hamstring injury which required surgery.

After a tough four months on the sidelines, the fans favourite is keen to get back into the swing of things and ensure Orient can end the 2017/18 campaign on a high.

When asked about the impact of head coach Edinburgh, who was appointed on November 29, Elokobi said: “Justin has been fantastic with us.

“He just wants us to do so well and he is passionate about what he does at training and also you can see this on the touchline.”

“Hopefully we can repay him with good results and I know that will come because he has been great to work with.

“All of us are learning from him and learning about how he wants things to be done and it is fantastic to have him on board.”

Elokobi’s injury on September 9 coincided with Orient losing the form which saw them rise up to second at the start of the season.

A torn hamstring resulted in the ex-Wolverhampton Wanderers defender missing 24 games in all competitions for the O’s.

Now he is back he will hope to help the club continue marching towards a Wembley final with Edinburgh laying out his plans for FA Trophy success as soon as he was appointed.

The centre back made his long-awaited return during the 2-1 win after extra-time at Bognor Regis Town in the last round – playing 60 minutes before being replaced by Dan Happe.

Elokobi will hope to start away to Dover this weekend in what will be a tricky tie for O’s with Chris Kinnear’s Whites in superb form since a stuttering December.

The Kent club have won their last three games in a row ahead of Saturday’s clash at the Crabble Athletic Ground.

Orient did hold Dover to a 1-1 draw at Brisbane Road under the stewardship of then-caretaker boss Ross Embleton on November 18 while Kinnear will no doubt place greater significance on the league over this tournament.

“Winning the FA Trophy is something we want to achieve as players,” said Elokobi. “Everyone wants to progress in the cup.”
