Budding reporters from George Green’s School collared Team GB stars Mo Farah and Ellie Simmonds for an interview at last weekend’s Sport’s Personality of the Year Awards.
High-achieving year 7 pupils Yassine Dur and Sealtiel Llego were representing the Isle of Dogs school at the prestigious event at the Excel Centre which saw the achievements of Great Britain’s Olympians and Paralympians celebrated in style.
The duo received press accreditation, before taking to the red carpet and grabbing a moment with double Olympic gold-medallist in the 5,000m and 10,000m Mo Farah, and double Paralympic gold medal winner Ellie Simmonds.
Yassine described the experience as the “opportunity of a lifetime”, and despite their meeting with one of the favourites Mo Farah, both pupils thought Bradley Wiggins deserved to be crowned the winner.
