A community day is set to bring African entertainment and dance, baking, and a ‘Question Time’ style panel debate to the Isle of Dogs.

The event, aimed at developing community cohesion by bringing young people together with adults living and working in the area, is the third to be held at George Geeen’s School.

Organisers say it will involve residents, primary school pupils, business and political leaders, youth workers and other community leaders.

And young people will be able to whet their political appetites by quizzing visitors during a ‘Question Time’ session. Among the politicians pitting their wits against the youngsters will be Poplar and Limehouse MP Jim Fitzpatrick, London Assembly Member John Biggs, and Conservative councillor Peter Golds.

The event is being held at the school, in Manchester Road, on October 11.
