After a career spent taking care of the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London, Helen Sheppard knows how to make things sparkle.

The 78-year-old has beat off stiff competition to be crowned the winner of our Glamourous Grannies competition.

Helen lives in Bow with her husband of 59 years, Roy, 77, and is grandmother to nine; the oldest is 34 and the youngest just 12-years-old.

Granddaughter Katie Hughes, 21, who nominated Helen, said: “She deserves to win. I don’t think she looks her age and she doesn’t act it. She is really funny and everything about her is a lot younger. She is very glamorous in everyday life.

“When I told her she had won she said she was going to faint. She didn’t expect it at all.”
