‘Godless congregation’ launching in Bethnal Green

PUBLISHED: 11:38 17 May 2013

A ‘Godless congregation’ is moving to a new home in the East End next month.

The Sunday Assembly brings atheists together on Sundays to hear speakers and join singing, and is relocating to York Hall, Bethnal Green.

The move follows a boom in popularity which meant that its previous venue of The Nave, in Islington, could no longer cater for the congregation’s needs.

Now organisers hope to fill the 1,200 capacity boxing venue in Old Ford Road.

The theme for the first month since the move will be ‘Happiness’, with ‘Action for Happiness’ trustee Anthony Seldon among the speakers.

The first congregation at York Hall will be held from 11am on June 2.
