GOVERNORS at the troubled London Metropolitan University have agreed to resign over the funding fiasco, it was announced today.
Members of the board were told last month by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) to "consider their position" after it emerged that the university had been falsely claiming funding for thousands of non-existent students.
And at Tuesday's board meeting it was decided that all governors who were members during the financial scam would step-down by next summer and the chair, Peter Anwyl would resign by the end of March.
There will also be a new Audit Committee by April and the senior staff identified in the enquiry by Sir David Melville will be investigated.
