GRANDPA Charlie Travers is shaving off his beard after decades to raise money for St Joseph's Hospice in Hackney's Mare Street.

He is holding a charity night on Sunday (March 16) at the Auld Triangle pub at 52 St Thomas's road, near Finsbury Park station in north London, where he plans to shave both his beard and his head in aid of the hospice.

His wife, children and 10 grandchildren have never seen him without a beard, so it is a big deal for them.
