More trains are pulling out on time at Liverpool Street main line station than any time in the past 13 years, according to latest rail industry figures.

Greater Anglia hit 93.6 per cent punctuality for the four-week period ended March 31, shunting its annual average over the past 12 months to a new high of 92.3 per cent.

The improvements are put down to better contingency plans with Network Rail to get services back to normal after disruption.

Most weekends have been free from disruptive engineering work this year and are now clear for the rest of the year, apart from one Sunday in October.
