TOWER Hamlets council has pledged its support to an innovative scheme to encourage more people to live ‘the Good Life’ and grow their own food.

The first Tower Hamlets Food-Growing Network was launched last week at the Tarling East Community Centre in Shdawell and included a photo exhibition of grow your own projects, information on resources and advice on practical horticulture as well as gardening workshops.

Tower Hamlets has already signed up to support the Mayor of London’s Capital Growth campaign, with a target of 60 new growing spaces and was recently joined by Tower Hamlets Homes, who want to support a growing space in each of their estates.

Also as a result of the event East End Homes have also pledged to support nine spaces in their estates.

The Grow Your Own photo exhibition will be on display at Idea Stores and the Town Hall from early next year.
