GREEN campaigners plan to turn a green park blue’ in East London on Saturday (June 6) to help save the planet.
Supporters of Friends of the Earth converge on London Fields park in Hackney for a blue theme’ picnic to symbolically represent rivers, lakes and oceans they say are under threat from global warming.
Members of the organisation’s support groups in Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Camden have organised a blue theme’ picnic with marine-coloured climate cupcakes while dressed head to toe in blue to show support for political action.
They want to raise public awareness about climate change and get support for a march through central London in December to put pressure on the Government ahead of the UN climate summit in Copenhagen.
