A firearm alert was raised in east London when a gun was discovered on the banks of the Lea River.
The gun was recovered by police officers who were called to the riverbank towpath at Bromley-by-Bow where the District Line and Fenchurch Street railway cross the river.
A member of the public spotted it while walking along the Bow Lock and Three Mills Lock towpath.
The gun was taken to Limehouse police station—where it was later identified as a blank-firing revolver and made safe, police confirmed.
