DEVELOPERS have had to scale down their proposed canal-side housing complex overlooking East London’s Victoria Park after protests from families living nearby.
But now the development at Gun Wharf in Old Ford (pictured) has been approved by the local authority.
Durkan Estates was told to go back to the drawing board after residents protested to stop the scheme going ahead which would have housed 500 people in blocks up to six stories high, overlooking the Hertford Union canal next to the park.
The revised plans now approved by Tower Hamlets council’s development committee were scaled down to blocks no more than three to four storeys high, this time more sympathetic’ to the area.
