Harry Hitchens, the teenage entrepreneur told ‘you’re fired’ in BBC1’s Young Apprentice semi-finals, has a new role—assuming Lord Sugar’s place as judge.
The ambitious 16-year-old is judging the trading skills of teenagers at the London Trade Fair at Old Spitalfields Market next Friday (February 10).
Youngsters aged 16 to 19 are selling their products to the public on 40 stalls as part of this year’s Young Enterprise business programme where they set up and run their own company with the guidance of a business mentor.
Harry is scrutinising their performance in selling their products—anything from Oyster card holders and flavoured pencils to retro clocks and Valentine’s Day cards—judging ‘Best Trade Stand’, ‘Best Sales Person’ and ‘Most Innovative Product’.
The teenagers in the buisness programme elect a board of directors, raise share capital and market and finance a product or service they create, trading for 12 months at shopping centres and markets all over London. Winners go on to regional final at the end of the year, followed by the UK finals—then a showdown with 33 other nations at the European grand final.
