A charity for people recovering from head injury is holding a dance marathon on Saturday to raise funds to keep its unique services going.

The eight-hour bash at Bethnal Green’s York Hall staged by Headway East London moves through dance eras from 1940s to the present day with jitter-bugging, lindy hopping, clock rocking, Charleston shimmies, Nineties booty wiggles, gravity-defying swing and mind-boggling boogie, all with live bands and cabaret.

Money raised will help Headway’s day centre in Kingsland Road, Shoreditch, keep going. It is London’s only inner-city centre with services five days a week including family support, networking, outreach, volunteering, occupational programmes, advocacy and therapies.

The charity is asking for wannabe dancers to raise 250 minimum, then rock in their glad rags at York Hall 2-10pm. Suggested donation for spectators: 20. Dancers can sign up online at: http://www.londondancemarathon.org.uk/register-now.html.
