Barts NHS Trust searching for east London’s ‘hospital heroes’

PUBLISHED: 07:00 17 October 2012

A new award for ‘hospital heroes’ has been launched this-morning in east London.

The ‘Barts Health Heroes’ campaign is to recognise staff and volunteers who “go above and beyond their daily duties” to make life in the wards better.

It is being set up by Barts Health NHS Trust at The Royal London in Whitechapel, London Chest in Bethnal Green and Bart’s in the City.

“We’re aiming to be one of the top 10 best places to work in the country,” said the trust’s ambitious chief executive Peter Morris.

“We want an environment where everyone is valued, a chance to put all the unsung heroes behind the scenes in hospitals, clinics and our offices into the spotlight.”

The trust is looking for individuals and teams who listen to patients, learn from feedback and make sure the clinical environment is safe for all those being treated.

Those working or volunteering in the hospitals or partner organisations can be nominated by patients, former patients, their families, GPs or other staff before the November 9 deadline.
