People from east London have made a film on how art therapy can help you overcome mental health problems.
Made by therapists from The East London Foundation Trust and users of the trust’s mental health service, the film shows different types of art therapies, which each focus on different parts of the body – music for the ear, dance for the body, and art for the eye.
The film was created over the summer with media company, Telejuice, and had its launch in east London and Bedfordshire, where it was shot.
Adrian Curwen, a user of The ELFT’s art therapies, helped organise the filmmaking. He said: “Working in art therapy groups allow creative ideas to flourish. This allows for change and progress.
“I’m so grateful to everyone that took part, but especially the patients and service users. Their dedication and energy is inspiring.”
Art therapies help people who may not be able to express emotions in other ways, like talking therapies. Click here to watch the film.
