Households are being urged to get involved in running their local GP practices.

Leading GPs in east London are encouraging patients to join NHS groups, as part of a national drive and awareness week.

Tower Hamlets Clinical Commissioning group’s Dr Sam Everington said: “Getting feedback from patients is essential to improve the services GPs offer.”

Dr Zuhair Zarifa, his counterpart who chairs the neighbouring Newham Clinical Commissioning group, said: “Patients’ groups enable people to work with their GPs to get the right services they expect and deserve.”

The campaign runs until June 8, promoting the role of patient groups and the support given by the National Association of Patient Participation.
