MP Jim Fitzpatrick became milk monitor for a day at an East End kids' nursery.

He turned up at Limehouse day nursery, one of thousands of schools and nurseries in 30 countries taking part in World School Milk Day to encourage tots to drink more of the nutritious white stuff.

“Every child around the world should have milk at school,” the Poplar & Limehouse MP told mums. “Milk is full of good stuff for a child—that’s why I’m backing the campaign.”

School milk is free in Britain for the under-fives in day-care or primary education and subsidised for school pupils from five to 11, he pointed out.

It is distributed by selected pupils chosen as milk monitors—a process aiding children’s social development including responsibility, independence and manners.

The MP stepped in as monitor at the nursery—milking the promotion for what it’s worth.
