MP for Poplar and Limehouse Jim Fitzpatrick has challenged 400 of his constituents to quit smoking each year.
Speaking ahead of the release of a new Parliamentary report on tobacco control, he says councils need to do more to help people who want to quit smoking.
He said: “We need to do more to help people quit smoking to improve people’s health and save the NHS money.
“I’m calling on the local council and the NHS to work together to ensure that everyone has the right support in place to help them quit first time round.”
