The Olympic Torch Relay is on its way down the Thames in the final leg of its journey around the UK.

It is being carried by boat from Hampton Court to City Hall, opposite the Tower of London, where it is expected to arrive at 1pm.

The Torch then reappears this-evening at the Olympic Park at Stratford for the main event, the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics.

Spectators along the Embankment either side of the Thames will be able to see the Torch as it travels on the river.

All the bridges between Hampton Court and Tower Bridge remain open as it passes.

London from today has been transformed into a massive world sporting and cultural venue in what has been described as ‘the greatest show on earth.’

Roads and public transport in east London are expected to be busy this-afternoon.

The public is being advised to avoid going anywhere near Stratford after 3pm.

Stratford City shopping complex closes early at 3pm to help get the 80,000 spectators to the Opening Ceremony.

All parking has been suspended anywhere near the Olympic Park, TfL warns.

But Underground services from Stratford are running extra late trains tonight until 2.25pm to make sure spectators can get home.
