A top doctor has been appointed to the National Health Service’s board for stomach and liver diseases.
Dr Michael Glynn, a gastroenterologist and hepatologist at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, will advise the government in its plans to modernise the NHS.
The Cambridge-educated doctor will continue his work at Barts Health NHS Trust, which he joined in 1988, devoting two days per week to his new duties.
He said his top priority was ensuring patients receive the “best possible care” for liver and stomach problems.
“I am also looking forward to working closely with the National Clinical Directors in other specialist fields to identify and build on common themes for improving patient care”, he added.
