Royal London recognised for end of life patient care
The Royal London Hospital has won an award for the quality of care it provides to kidney patients nearing the end of their lives.
The hospital’s renal supportive and palliative care team was recognised in an award run by the International Journal of Palliative Nursing and Macmillan Cancer Support.
They came out on top thanks to innovations made to help them provide the best care to “end stage” kidney failure patients.
Patients’ choices are prioritised in the new guidelines developed by the hospital, in Whitechapel Road.
Kidney consultant professor Alistair Chesser said: “I am very proud of the team and this award is a well deserved recognition of a world class project.
