Top musicians visited cancer patients as part of an east London hospital trust’s therapeutic arts programme.
Members of Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, the world’s oldest, visited Barts hospital on Friday to perform in waiting areas and treatment lounges.
The orchestra is visiting London as part of an international residency at the Barbican and was enlisted to visit the hospital by Vital Arts, Barts and The London trust’s arts charity.
Music has been proven to help allay anxiety in patients and help their bodies respond more positively to treatment.
