Wholesome-minded East Enders called upon for new healthy cafe
PUBLISHED: 06:55 17 November 2010
AS an antidote to the fast-food chains saturating East End high streets, a healthy café is being set up.
Wholesome-minded East Enders – or those wanting to know how to cook a little healthier - are being called on to get involved in the new enterprise.
Cooks and kitchen helpers are needed to help run the classes.
There are around 40 fried chicken restaurants in the borough.
Tower Hamlets has one of the highest obesity rates for children with around a quarter ten to eleven year olds overweight.
Courses will be available free of charge for residents at Kingsley Hall Community Centre, in Powis Road, Bow.
Exercise classes will also be available.
Organised by arts and education group Bridie Productions, they start on January 12 but volunteers should apply now at firstname.lastname@example.org.
