Hendon pleased Orient are getting the recognition they deserve

Brisbane Road boss discusses link with Swindon Town, Dean Cox and the victory at Morecambe
Leyton Orient boss Ian Hendon was pleased to see his side get back to winning ways in League Two with a hard fought 1-0 win at Morecambe and believes they are starting to get credit for the brand of football they want to play.
The O’s weren’t at their vintage best at Globe Arena but defended well and did create enough chances to score more than once.
In the end it was a fortuitous goal that gave them all three points as Jack Payne blocked Ryan Edwards attempted clearance and the ball flew into the net.
But in previous matches they have demonstrated the type of football they want to play by creating a host of chances and been easy on the eye to watch.

Hendon believes that might be the reason why he was linked with the vacant Swindon Town job yesterday (Friday).
“I have no idea where the Swindon link has come from. It is nice to be put up there, but I don’t know where it come from,” said the Orient head coach.

“I know Swindon did speak about the way they want to play football and the philosophy they want to play so it might have something to do with that because I think we play the game the right way.
“We might be getting a bit of recognition for it. We haven’t always got the wins of late, but we have played good stuff and performed well and it was nice today to finally get that victory.”
A talking point off the pitch was the exclusion of Dean Cox from the match day squad at Morecambe despite coming off the bench on Tuesday night at Luton Town.
It came as a surprise to many to see the midfielder at the Globe Arena, but not involved.
Hendon discussed why the talented 28-year-old was dropped, adding: “I look at everybody and the way they train all week and it was my decision that I figured today wasn’t a day for Dean.
“That is as far as it is, I left him out and we will go back to training next week and see how we go.”
He continued: “I would like to think I would get a response from Dean in training. Me and Dean had a chat and I have no issues with him. That is it, simple as that.”
Despite Cox only having a watching view, luck was back on Orient’s side at Morecambe with their winning goal a perfect example.
Hendon urged his squad at half time not to let the opportunity presented to them slip.
“It is about time we had a bit of luck. We keep creating all these chances and we’re not putting them in,” he added.
“We said at half time that is the bit of luck we have been wanting and needed so let’s not go and spoil it in the second half and I have to credit the players. They dug in, battled and we got our rewards.”
